The old layout vs. the new layout.
Before, the rods were tapped and helicoiled and the intended goal was to cut and rotate it into place until they rested against the bamboo tubes, then glue and bind them into place.
Structurally, this was not the best idea and clearance wise, it was impossible as aluminum ran into aluminum which would have to be welded in order to remain most effective. Welding was something I was looking to avoid. The overall outcome was something that was basically hand carved out of machined pieces. It was not repeatable. A new method should be devised next time in order to make the construction process easier. That would also give me an opportunity to come up with a better braking system.
